The 16 World Cup teams were divided into four groups of four, seeded according to their world rankings, with each team playing everyone in their group
The top 2 teams from each group progressed into the next round - the Super 8s.
The Super 8 for the 2007 World Cup are:
Group A - as expected, tournament favourites Australia & South Africa
Group B - Bangladesh join Sri Lanka at the expense of group favourites India
Group C - New Zealand pipped England to top spot and both went through
Group D - the former World Champions, Pakistan, were out as the West Indies are joined by the surprise package of the tournament so far, Ireland.
The top 4 teams from the Super 8s meet in the Semi Finals. Second-placed Sri Lanka meet third-placed New Zealand while top-of-the-table Australia will play fourth-placed South Africa
